Body Contouring

Body ContouringLet Us Count the Ways!

Body contouring is a buzz word we hear thrown around a lot in the aesthetic world. Traditionally, body contouring procedures were something that was for patients who had undergone extreme weight loss and that required skin excisions to reshape the body. These could include arm lift (brachioplasty), tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) and/or breast lifts (mastopexy).

With the advancement of technology, body contouring is now something available to all people wishing to “take down their hills and fill in the valleys.” It is not just for those who require more invasive procedures. Let’s discuss the different options available here in our office.

Liposuction

Liposuction can slim and shape specific areas of the body by removing excess fat deposits which helps improve contour and shape. Liposuction should be performed in an accredited facility, ideally by an accredited surgeon and may be done alone or in combination with other procedures. While liposuction may help alleviate unwanted fat deposits, the contraction of the skin may leave the patient feeling “saggy” due to a lack of contraction or tightening of the skin. You may also take the unwanted fat from one area and use it to contour another which we will touch on later in the blog.

Facetite & Bodytite

These are minimally invasive contouring procedures that provide improvement of skin laxity after weight loss, liposuction, or to reverse and combat what happens over time as we age. These procedures can be performed alone to address laxity or in combination with liposuction to remove unwanted fat along with the skin tightening. These procedures utilize radiofrequency energy to contour the skin. These procedures give us the ability to contour the body without surgical incisions and minimal downtime for the patient. This technology has greatly improved patient satisfaction after procedures such as arm liposuction or medial thighs where the skin does not contract as well as other areas.

Fat grafting

(Also known as autologous fat transfer or fat injections)

This is a surgical process that involves transferring fat from one area of the body to another. The goal here is to improve contour and/or shape where the fat is injected. Common areas where fat grafting is performed are the face, breast, hips, buttocks, hands and feet. Consultation with our board certified plastic surgeon is a must! This is where you will be evaluated and advised on what body contouring procedure, or combinations of procedures which would best suit your individual needs.

TruSculpt ID

Last but not least, TruSculpt ID is a revolutionary non-surgical body contouring treatment. TruSculpt uses monopolar radiofrequency technology to selectively target fat and heat the cell until it is eliminated. These treatments are personalized to meet each individual’s needs and treatment sessions may be performed in as little as 15 minutes. This is the perfect treatment for the individual who is at or near their ideal weight but has small areas that are resistant to diet and exercise.
